Knowing an IP Location

The Importance of Knowing an IP Location

By: Mike Morgan

There are many occasions when it is helpful for Web masters to identify where their visitors are coming from. This is useful for people running e-commerce websites. They need to know where their potential customers are located. If they are in another country then that country’s language can be used for their website. It is not possible for ordinary website owners to know the exact location of a website. But given the IP location they can know the general region that the person is from. Knowing the IP address is also useful for tracking down hackers and spammers.

IP addresses are assigned not based so much on the physical location of the person as much as where he gets his internet connectivity from. The IP address assigned to one home might be very different from that assigned to his neighbor if they use different service providers. If someone wants the exact location of an IP address then it is only the Internet service provider that can give this information. However, most internet service providers have strict privacy policies that prevent them from disclosing this information. But there is some software available online that can provide the location of an IP address.

Every computer has what is known as an IP location. Each computer is assigned a different number that effectively becomes its own unique address. Many users want to know what their IP address is. They can easily find this information by doing an IP lookup. They can simply enter the query in any search engine. The answer will give the user his IP geo-location information. Every IP address has four sets of numbers that are separated by a period. These addresses are used by Internet service providers to find the location of a computer anywhere in the world.

Initially many Internet service providers gave static IP addresses to the computers. But over the years the number of people using computers has kept on increasing. It has now become necessary to assign more dynamic IP addresses to computers. These addresses are issued from a pool and limit the ability of users to host FTP servers, websites and mail servers. This also helps users who want to connect to the Internet through virtual hosting. Dynamic IP addresses allow for multiple addresses to be used at one time. The best example of this method is the wireless Internet in a home, which allows the personal computer, tablet and cell phone to be used at the same time to surf the Internet.

Knowing the IP location is very beneficial for a user. It enables him to access various forums on the Internet. It also helps him with speed checks, e-mail tracing and proxy detection. Having this information also helps the user with greater safety in all his online activities. The IP location is a lot like the mailing address of a home or an office. Just like these unique addresses identify a home or an office anywhere in the real world IP addresses perform the same function in the virtual world.

Many people want to know how they can change their IP address

Pinpointing an IP Location

By: Mike Morgan

Many people want to know how they can change their IP address. This is because the issue of privacy and internet fraud has become major issues these days. There are many hackers and spammers on the internet who are keen on causing as much mischief to the accounts of other users as possible. Many people use a proxy server to protect their IP location. A proxy server is a website that is specifically created to protect a unique Internet protocol address. It is an indirect way of accessing various websites to surf anonymously. There are also many good software available in the market that can help protect the confidentiality of users.

Conversely it is also important for some agencies to identify the IP addresses of other users. There are many hackers and trouble makers who need to be caught and stopped. Knowing what computer they are using and from where can be a guide to pinpointing their location. This can help the law enforcement agencies track down such people and stop their nefarious activities. Taking the help of internet service providers who control the address is also necessary for identifying the exact location of an IP address.

Secure PDF Files

Knowing How To Properly Secure PDF Files

by Achilles Marshal

If you are an avid computer user, or you are a technologically savvy person who enjoys reading and surfing the web, then chances are you either use or come into digital contact with PDF files. While PDF files are incredibly easy to open and use, it can be difficult to know if the PDF files which you are using are secure PDF files, or if they pose a potential risk or threat to your computer's safety and security.
In order to properly prepare your computer in the event that you accidentally come into contact with a dangerous or hazardous PDF file, it is important to take the proper preventative steps to ensure that a harmful PDF does not do any serious damage to your computer's hard drive. When you use only secured PDF files, you can avoid many computer problems.

The first step one should take in order to ensure that you have secure PDF files on your computer is to password protect all of your PDF files. This will guarantee that, regardless of how you use those files, any malicious external parties who get their hands on the files will not be able to open them or access them. Password protecting files is the first step which should be taken towards better PC protection and security. It is also important to keep a thorough retainer on all passwords used to protect files – don't accidentally lock yourself out of a file because you forgot the password! If this occurs, you may never be able to open that PDF again.

The second step one should take in order to ensure that you have secure PDF files is to never open PDF files which are downloaded directly from an unknown or unfamiliar website. PDF files downloaded from malicious websites could directly attack your hard drive and personal files, wreaking irreversible damage on your computer and forcing you to either restore your hard drive or buy a new computer altogether. If you need to download PDF files from the internet, be sure that you are receiving them through a reputable and well-known website which will not provide you with harmful or hazardous files. Also, be sure to run a file scan on PDFs which you download online, regardless of which website you receive them from. Even if you download PDFs through a reputable site, the PDFs themselves may have been compromised prior to being uploaded by the website, or they may have been corrupted while on the website's server.

Following these simple tips for success will allow you to avoid downloading harmful PDF files and ensure that your PDF files remain as well-protected and secure as possible. Be sure to run system diagnostics and other preventative security measures as frequently as possible in order to minimize the possibility of data loss and corruption. With your secured PDF, you'll be able to feel confident you have the security and privacy you need with your private information.
